What is the Subaru Love Promise?

Subaru and our retailers believe in making the world a better place and the Subaru Love Promise is our vision of respecting all people. This is our commitment to show love and respect to our customers and to work to make a positive impact in the world.

In a perfect world, hunger would be history and hope would be commonplace. We believe a perfect world is possible.

In 2020, Subaru and its retailers made a donation to Feeding America to provide 50 million meals to help feed people in need during the COVID-19 crisis,* making meals available at 199 local food banks across the country.

*$1 helps provide at least 10 meals secured by Feeding America on behalf of local member food banks.

Subaru and our retailers are committed to protecting and preserving the Earth, not just by our words, but also by our actions.

More than 13 million pieces of hard-to-recycle waste collected and recycled through TerraCycle®.

Subaru believes we all should have a chance to lead a healthy life. That's why Subaru and its retailers, like us, partner with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS) and their local hospital or cancer treatment center to give warm blankets and encouraging messages of hope, written by retailers and Subaru customers in their stores, to support patients facing cancer. Through our partnership with LLS, we've supported nearly 350,000 cancer patients nationwide. We're proud to be LLS's largest automotive donor.

Subaru and its retailers, like us, are continuing our support of education and high-needs schools in our communities through Subaru Loves Learning(R) by providing teachers across the country with funding to purchase the school supplies and resources they know are needed to help students thrive in the classroom. Through our partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, Subaru and its retailers will have supported more than 470,000 students nationwide and are proud to be their largest corporate supporter.

Subaru believes all pets deserve a loving home. That's why Subaru and its retailers, like us, partner with a local animal shelter every October to provide direct financial assistance and host adoption events to help animals find loving homes. Through our partnership with local and national organizations, we have donated over $51 million, which has supported the adoption, rescue, transport, and health of over 420,000 animals. We're proud to be the largest corporate donor to the ASPCA.

The Subaru Share the Love® Event

Subaru and its retailers believe in giving back to our communities. That's why for every new vehicle sold or leased during the Subaru Share the Love event, Subaru and its retailers, like us, makes a donation to national charities that our owners care about and to over 2,100 local charities where Subaru owners live and work.

Now, after 15 years, Subaru and our retailers have donated over $256 million to charity all to give back and to make the world a better place.

Worth the Wait

Lefty Lucy which she became known as, was sitting patiently at our local Tuolumne County Animal Control. She watched each and every face that went by her kennel, hoping her family would come and take her home. Day after day she became more discouraged and depressed. Lucy could sense there was an urgency to her getting out of Animal Control, her time was limited and she felt hopeless. Lucy’s front left leg had a deformity, either an old injury not fixed or a birth defect. She could tell that the people coming to adopt wanted a “perfect dog” and she was more an “underdog dog” Friends of the Animal Community routinely takes dogs from TCAC, especially when over their capacity. Foac loves helping the “under dogs” so we accepted her into our program. That was Feb 2023. She waited over 7 mos at our center to find her perfect forever home! We brought her to adoption days, promoted her on line but nothing helped. Again passed over…. October 2023 was her lucky month, during Subarus Loves Pet Adoption Month, with all the extra promotion & attention, Lucy’s perfect home came! Here is what they have to say about her and how she has added to their family! After 230 days kenneled, she was home. From her new owners: She loves to run around the meadow behind our house and seems to find the largest stick she can to bring home. She is so funny and eager to please. Lucy and our 3 year old grand son have become best friends. She is so gentle with him and obviously loves hanging out with him. We are so happy we found this dog. We lost our beloved dog to cancer in January and we were unsure about adding another. We are happy we did as she keeps us active and entertained

Diana J. White Cancer Institute

On behalf of the Diana J. White Cancer Institute, we wanted to extend our sincerest appreciation for the heartwarming blanket delivery visit that took place last month. Your thoughtful gesture brought comfort and hope to our patients during their challenging journey. At the Diana J. White Cancer Institute, we constantly strive to create a nurturing environment for our patients, and your partnership with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS) has been instrumental in making a difference. Though the Subaru team members did not have the opportunity to meet with the patients directly, the impact of their gesture was profound. As the blankets were handed out, the patients expressed their gratitude with heartfelt words and radiant smiles. It was evident that your act of kindness resonated deeply with them, providing not only physical warmth but also emotional support during their battle against cancer. One patient's words touched our hearts as they said, "These blankets mean so much to us. It's like receiving a hug from the community, reminding us that we're not alone in this fight. Thank you, Subaru, for wrapping us in love and comfort." The simple act of distributing blankets became a moment of connection between the patients and your caring staff. Each interaction was filled with appreciation and served as a reminder of the importance of community support during challenging times. Subaru's Love Promise program has left an indelible mark on our patients and their families. Your dedication to supporting the local community and partnering with LLS has made a significant difference in the lives of those affected by cancer. From the bottom of our hearts, we extend our deepest gratitude to Subaru and the entire team for your unwavering commitment to embracing love and making a positive impact on our patients' lives.

Meals on Wheels Thankful for Sonora Subaru

Sierra Senior Providers, Inc. has a great love for Sonora Subaru. The partnership started when SSPI received a brand-new Subaru donated by a very generous donor years ago. Sonora Subaru has been our great supporter and partner in the community. For the past years, Sonora Subaru helped us to advertise our upcoming Meals on Wheels(MOW) fundraising (Railtown and Radiothon) by allowing us to stage several Subaru at the retailer. We put 2 Subarus on the "block" with balloons and tied our blue MOW ribbon around the dealership lobby! Cars driving by gave us a beep and many waves while setting up! During the pandemic, the Senior Center, the home of Sierra Senior Providers, was closed for more than two years. On May 16, 2022, Senior Center celebrated a grand reopening of the center to the community. Sonora Subaru Team was there, supported us, and awarded Ten Thousand Fifty-Six Dollars from the Subaru Share the Love® Program. The Sonora Subaru Team is great to work with! We are grateful and honored to work with an organization that values community service and continues to help Sierra Senior Providers, Inc. feed the seniors of Tuolumne County.

FOAC Loves Subaru of Sonora

Foac ( Friends of the Animal Community) is beyond grateful for the support and partnership Subaru of Sonora has provided! Every year they run the Subaru loves Pets® Initiative that runs the month of October, Subaru donates $100 for every dog/puppy adopted up to 30 in the month. They also provide an online presence and brought wonderful Bark Boxes to give out with the adopters! The $3,000 that Subaru donates back helps off set the high medical costs we incur as a rescue. The heart break our rescue deals with daily is sometimes unbearable, there are so many animals needing help. We watch owners tearfully give up their beloved pets, and then see the animals grieve daily for their owners to return. Dog rescue is very difficult, but it helps to know we are supported and backed by businesses like Subaru who value the work we do in this community.

Kimberly the Kind and Vince of the Incredible Memory

I took my Forester to the Subaru repair shop this morning. And, I had a WONDERFUL experience. I have two people I would like to commend. First, is Kim who drove me home from the repair shop. I am a rather shy person, and I dreaded the idea of riding with a stranger for 20 minutes. What would we talk about? I needn't have worried. Kim was so friendly and so interesting. She was easy to talk to and funny! Overall, it was a lovely experience. She is a credit to your shop and presents an excellent face of Subaru! Second, when I first walked into the shop, I was greeted by Vince. He remembered me from his former employer. He is such an outgoing and friendly young man. He even asked after my husband. How many employees remember their former customers by name? Not many!!!!! Vince is also a credit to you and to Subaru!!!! Great hires and nice people.

Subaru of Sonora and the Diana J White Cancer Center Partnership Makes a Difference in Our Community

A quick note to say thank you to Subaru of Sonora and its employees for the very kind and thoughtful things you do for the Diana J. White Cancer Center/Infusion Center patients! My daughter being a recipient of a lovely blanket one year and most recently all the uplifting notes placed in the Infusion Center! It makes a difference. I love seeing and hearing about all the wonderful things Subaru of Sonora does for the community too! I think you are a very thoughtful and generous company and a great asset to Sonora! Thank you for all you do, it is very appreciated. Maryann Campisi

A young and energetic female Great Pyrenees lived her life tied to a post. A concerned neighbor, Nikki, watched her sit there, day after day. Nikki noticed there was a wire wrapped around the poor dog’s hind leg and could no longer keep quiet. She asked the owner if he would give her the dog. He had paid for the female to use as a breeder, but reluctantly agreed to give her up. Nikki contacted FOAC and asked for medical help for the dog she named Lucky. Lucky’s hind leg could not be saved, the circulation had been cut off and infection had set in; amputation was the only option. FOAC put out a plea and our wonderful community responded, raising the funds needed for Lucky’s surgery. Nikki cared for Lucky throughout her surgery and rehabilitation. This wonderful, sweet girl now lives as an indoor dog only, where she is cared for and well loved. Friends of the Animal Community was thrilled to receive funding from Sonora Subaru to support our adoption, spay and neuter programs. The October Adopt a Pet was a huge success! Thanks to their generous gift, many cats, kittens, puppies and dogs received the spay/neuter surgeries, vaccines, microchips, and flea medication they needed to become ready to find their forever homes. I'm happy to report that all pets sponsored by this grant were adopted to loving families within days of becoming available. Thank you to Sonora Subaru for making this possible and for helping to save the lives of vulnerable pets in our community!

Subaru and FOAC help local animals get adopted!

Friends of the Animal Community, FOAC is extremely grateful for the continued support of Sonora Subaru! Over a decade, Subaru has given generously to these deserving homeless sheltered animals. Our veterinarian expenses are extremely high even with just covering basic spay/ neuter and vaccinations. We also help animals with all kinds of medical issues. The October Adopt a Pet was a huge success with over 78 adoptions! Jake, a Malamute-cross gentle giant, had been tied to a tree for the whole of his life, five long years. Five years of summer heat, freezing winters, and neglect had led to a thick, dirty, matted coat, hot spots and sores all over his body, and ears so infected, they were closed and swollen. Even so, this sweet boy would give kisses in return for any affection. FOAC was able to remove Jake from this hideous situation to our facility. He was bathed and groomed, seen by a veterinarian, placed in a foster home, and then adopted to a loving family! He now spends his days lounging around the house and going outside to a big grassy lawn to take a nap under his favorite shade tree.

Subaru and LLS Help Local Cancer Patients

As in previous years, early this summer the Diana J. White Cancer Institute received a donation of blankets from Subaru of Sonora who partnered with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We were also given handwritten cards with messages of hope, inspiration and comfort. We attach a handwritten note to each blanket that we give to our patients. Our county has a high per capital poverty level. There is rarely a time when we do not have homeless patients and/or patients who go without heat in the colder months because they cannot afford to pay their fuel bills. The most common reaction we see when patients receive a note and blanket is one of surprise that there are people in the community who really do care about them. On more than one occasion, we witness tears of joy because they feel cared for. Many are not aware of the immense struggles that cancer patients go through, not only physical but emotionally, socially and financially. Many feel that they are forgotten. These blankets let patients know that they are remembered. The last patient who recently received a blanket and card exclaimed, “I feel like it is Christmas!”. Seeing patients leave the clinic clutching the blankets to them brings those of us who work here much joy.

80 Blankets Donated to Adventist Health Sonora

On July 18, 2018, Erica and Kineth from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) drove two hours from Sacramento to meet with Kelly Robinson and his Subaru team at Adventist Health Sonora Cancer Center. We met with Susan Balcarel and her team from the hospital, who were so excited to receive the 80 blankets, several reusable bags and many care cards from Subaru/LLS. We were also joined by our Honored Hero Aliza and her Mom Christal, as well as Team In Training coach, supporter and fundraiser, Mel. The hospital staff were so grateful and thankful for the donation and we couldn’t of made this opportunity possible without Subaru’s commitment through Subaru Loves to Care. This is the third year of the partnership with Subaru and we hope we can continue to provide comfort and care to patients in Sonora for years to come. Thank you!!!

Why I drove two hours to buy my new Subaru

A few years ago on Christmas Eve, I was driving two hours to my son's home for the holidays. Suddenly, my Tribeca started making a frightening sound on the freeway and I panicked because I knew I would never find anyone to look at the car on the night before Christmas. I took a chance and looked for the nearest Subaru dealer and they were about to close. I begged with them to stay open long enough for me to get there and to listen to my car and the service manager agreed. I couldn't believe that I would find anyone who would be willing to wait for me yet he did. I told him that I would never forget what he did and, when it was time to buy a new car, I would be back. Yes, I have a Subaru dealer in my town but, because I never forget a business that exceeds my expectations, today I drove two hours to Diablo Subaru to keep my promise and purchased a 2018 Outback. The entire team of sales & finance were a joy to work with. This is a dealership that Subaru is fortunate to have on its team!

Subaru of Sonora & LLS Staff Visit Sonora Regional

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) – Greater Sacramento Area Chapter was proud to partner with Subaru of Sonora in June during Subaru Loves to Care month to provide support to patients fighting cancer in the town of Sonora, California. Subaru of Sonora provided 80 blankets to be donated to local cancer patients to provide comfort and warmth during treatment. Additionally, 24 craft kits were provided to children as an outlet to make crafts during treatment. Subaru of Sonora leadership joined LLS to deliver these blankets, care cards and craft kits directly to the cancer center at Sonora Regional Cancer Center in Sonora, California. The opportunity to interact with Sonora Regional Cancer Center staff was a touching experience for each of us and we can't thank Subaru of Sonora enough!
